My artist bio

I’ve been creating art since I was a little girl. My earliest illustration I recall was a three-sentence illustrated “essay” answering a teacher’s question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I drew a picture of a stick-girl (moi) feeding similarly stick-triangle chickens: I wanted to be a farmer’s wife. I still have this œuvre.

Fast-forward to six, when I started drawing horses. My ever-enthusiastic Mother asked Toronto artist-illustrator-author Professor John Hall to come and see my line and oil pastel drawings. “Stay with it!” he recommended...

... And I did.

Now I experiment with acrylics, watercolours, mixed media, pen-and-ink, woodblock and other printing techniques such as drypoint, painting on ceramic, handmade paper, silver and horse-hair jewellery — really, I am keen to try anything. Creating 2.5 x 3.5 inch Artist Trading Cards (see my ATC label here) since 2003 has introduced me to many different mediums — plus, they’re fun!

In 2011, I was invited to join my first group show, Dragonesque, at Raymond Sander Regier’s Art Brûlant and Impressions gallery in Shawville, Quebec.
