Evolution of etching and creating a print

Creating a print from an acrylic sheet

Etching is fun, and can be done easily with a sheet of plexi-glass or acrylic, some sharp tools, and inks.

First, I scratched my design into a sheet of clear acrylic. Then I rubbed in a coat of black ink.
Step 1. Carved image
with black ink rubbed into the design I made.
Step 2. Proof print.
It is important to take a proof print to ensure that the image is what you want, so this is what I did.

After checking the proof print, I scratched additional marks into it.

Finally, I added colour, using different inks, well-rubbed into the scratched grooves.

Step 3: Rubbing colour
onto the plate.
This is the print I created with this plate.
